Weather Smiles On Jubilee Fayre

Archive Archive

Weeks of  planning by many of our tutor groups all paid off as the weather shone on our Jubilee Fayre which had been instigated by Miss Jayne Simmons (Physics and Head of Wheatley) and her eager form Shell S. As well as everyone enjoying a lunchtime of fun and games, at least £500 was raised for local and national charities.

As the official Jubilee celebrations fell in Half Term, Shell S had initiated the idea of having an event at school soon after with traditional Fayre games. The field in front of the school was filled with stalls, and pupils, as well as staff, from both the Senior and Junior school were able to take part in the tombola, duck shoot, 'kan knock out', coconut shy, 'whack a rat' and many other games. As well as around 20 stalls, there were numerous cakes, sweets and ices on sale.

Bablake's Wind Band, rallied by Music teacher Mr Steven Cooper, also added to the fun, playing a number of hearty tunes.
