Inspiration From Morgan Cars

Archive Archive

Arkwright Scholar Oliver Warlow, whose photograph is used in this article, reports on the recent L6th Design Technology visit to Morgan Cars:

'Why would you build a three-wheeled car and proceed to place the engine outside it? This was just one of the many questions that were answered during our trip to the Morgan Motor Company.

Following in the footsteps of the U6th Design Technology group, we took an opportunity to step outside the classroom and see how the processes of design and manufacture that we have been studying are applied in a real world environment.

We discovered how Morgan cars are made using a combination of both traditional and innovative methods, with some of the technology pioneered by Morgan now also extensively employed in the aerospace industry. As well as learning more about the history of design, we also saw how a factory and manufacturing plant are run.

The visit has certainly inspired my choice of A2 project next year and I would like to thank Morgan for expanding my knowledge of Design and Technology as well as helping my progress towards the grade I greatly desire in my forthcoming AS examinations.'
