Across the Year Groups

Bablake Pre Prep currently welcomes boys and girls aged from 2 to 7. From September 2010 pupils will be admitted from their third birthday. Nursery children join for not less than four sessions, which may be four mornings or afternoons, or a combination of the two. During the final pre school year (4+) in Kindergarten, children are expected to attend full-time.

In Nursery and Kindergarten there is a one form entry and these classrooms are bright, colourful and airy with displays highlighting the children's many successes and achievements. The children have their own class teacher who is supported by a fully qualified teaching assistant. All of the children have access to ICT and enjoy gym and music lessons.

Much of the learning at the earlier stages takes place thorugh extended play and the children have many opportunities to be creative through art and role play. Throughout their learning, positive reinforcement constantly takes place in order to develop the children's self-confidence.

In Reception and Years 1 & 2, lessons gradually become more formal and children follow an extended National Curriculum in preparation for Key Stage 1 tests at 7+. Classes are small, generally up to eighteen children. During English and Maths lessons children are often taught in even smaller groups to enable them to receive individual support and attention.

Children are thoroughly prepared for the next stage of their Bablake education.
